The All Progressives Congress, APC, governors, under the umbrella of Progressive Governors Forum, PGF, yesterday warned that Nigerians will resist any attempt to remove President Muhammadu Buhari from office.
Late last week, there were reports of threat by the Senate to impeach Buhari amid the face-off between the presidency and the Senate, which was deepened by charges instituted by the federal government over alleged forgery of Senate Orders. However, the Senate has come out to deny plotting to impeach the President.
But speaking on behalf of the PGF at the flag off of the campaign of the candidate of the party in the September 10 governorship election Edo State, Mr Godwin Obaseki, the Edo State governor, Adams Oshiomhole stressed that the people’s power was behind Buhari.
His words, “We know that corruption will fight back and it is fighting back. And that is why we went for a tested army general to lead the corruption fight. They will fight back but they willbe crushed.“We reaffirm our confidence in the President, we don’t want any impeachment, we stand for democracy. The coup was resisted inTurkey, that is how Nigerians will resist any attempt to impeach the President.“The anti-corruption war must go on, Nigeria’s economy will be repositioned and the people will be witnesses to prosperity. Peace is already returning to the North East. Itwill return to the Niger Delta and Nigeria will be prosperous again.”
