Mother of the ill fated new born baby that was widely
reported in the media who was born without genitals
and anus with the intestine bulging out on the surface
of the body has taken the baby for baptism in a Catholic
Church in Onitsha. The baby was christened Mary
Cynthia Odinakachukwu(one in the hands of God).
A follow -up on the complicated medical condition of
the baby in their residence at No 9b Old Hospital
Rd,Onitsha shows that mother and child are in great
distress in their one room apartment while three of her
normal children have stopped going to school due to
the heavy financial burden placed on them by the baby.
The mother, Mrs Ibeh said that contrary to advise from
people to discard the baby, she had no moral right to do
so since the baby was the creation of God who gives
and takes as He wishes.
She said she decided to baptize the baby as a normal
child and live the rest to God and for kind spirited
Nigerians to assist her financially to raise funds for
some of the expensive medical tests, brain scan and
surgery.
Mrs Ibeh whose petty trading business has completely
collapsed appealed to kind hearted individuals and
charitable organisations to assist her financially by
donating generously towards the treatment and welfare
of the child and above all remember the entire family in
their prayers.
The mother of child who hails from Agulu in Anaocha
local Government of Anambra State said her husband is
from Enugu State and does menial jobs.
She thanked the various media houses and social media
blogs for reporting the matter and sensitizing the public
about the situation.
It would be recalled that the ill fated baby was delivered
recently in a hospital in Onitsha through Caesarean
section.
At the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching
Hospital,Nnewi where the case was referred to, the
doctors opened up part of the baby’s abdomen to
eliminate waste and thereafter discharged them after
some weeks of inability to settle their huge financial bill.
The question regarding the actual sex of the baby has
remained a dilemma.
The couple and child were then left in the cold,
completely stranded and desperately in need of money
to continue with the treatment of the child hence the
appeal for financial aid from kind spirited people.
