The Federal University, Dutsinma, Katsina State, has been shut following
tension over reinstatement of its Vice Chancellor, Prof. Haruna Kaita.
The VC was fired by the management of the University over the issue of financial misappropriation.
He was recently reinstated by a court order which has led to a raucous.
He attempted to resume work at the office last Friday but was deterred
by a build up of tension between those in support of his sack, and his
sympathizers.
Eyewitnesses claim that some of the students showed their disdain
against his reappointment by screaming unsavory slogans, while his
sympathizers challenged their words with chants of their own leading to a
face off.
It was further realized that the situation led to a division of students and staff along religious lines.
