Ferrari have left the door open for Mick Schumacher, son of Formula One icon Michael, to join their team and follow in his father's footsteps.
The young Schumacher has been attracting attention following a series of impressive performances on the F3 circuits, while earning rave reviews from his peers.
Schumacher recently excelled himself at the Nurburgring round of the European F3 championship, in which he won all three races to trail Red Bull junior Dan Ticktum in the drivers' standings by just three points.
Talk has gathered pace regarding the eventual future of the 19-year-old, prompting questions to be asked of the German at the recent Singapore Grand Prix.
'The recent results were very, very good and I wish to him a great career,' said Ferrari team principal Maurizio Arrivabene about Schumacher following the showpiece event, report Formula One.
'But let the guy have fun. I always repeat this: [young drivers should be] focused, concentrated, but at the same time have fun and grow up slowly but certainly. Then we will see about the future.
'How can you say no, in Maranello, to a name like this?'
Schumacher has been heavily linked with a move to the Toro Rosso team, as a replacement for the soon-to-be-departing Pierre Gasly who is bound for Red Bull.
With the Toro Rosso team seen as a feeder operation for Red Bull, Ferrari are believed to be keen to avoid Schumacher following suit and slipping from their grasp.
The Ferrari and Schumacher bond was solidified when Michael became one of the most successful drivers in the history of the sport and won five of his record seven F1 crowns with the team between 2000 and 2004.
