A French press report said Real Madrid striker Benzema was in danger of being prosecuted on charges of involvement in a kidnapping crime.
France's Mediapart published a report on Thursday confirming that Leo Desouza, who had earlier served as Benzema's agent, had launched a case of attempted kidnapping and detention.
The website said that Desouza accused a number of elements close to the French attacker involved in the crime.
The prosecution opened an investigation into the case on October 9.
Desouza said the attack was due to a financial dispute with Benzema, and said the player was demanding the return of 50,000 euros (N20.8million) seized by the Moroccan authorities when the agent transferred her from the Moroccan city of Marrakech to Spain.
He said he received a phone call on 7 July from a friend who shared with Benzema, who asked him to come to a bar in a Paris neighborhood. When he arrived at the scene, a black vehicle stopped in front of him and he was called Esmain Tabinhas, a close friend of Benzema.
Tabinhas of Desosa called for the ride and grabbed it in an attempt to force him to ride, but the bar workers' departure and demanding that Tabinhas leave would push him away from the area.
Although preliminary investigations showed that Benzema was not present at the scene, she said two of the suspects were heading after the incident to a hotel in Paris where the Frenchman was staying that night.
The new case comes years after Benzema was accused of co-extorting former team mate Valbuena, the cause that kept him away from the French side.
