Report: Early Transfer Deadline Helped Man United Retain Martial
10/30/2018
Manchester United were able to hang onto Anthony Martial this summer because of the shortened transfer window in the English Premier League.
Clubs in the top flight of English football were not able to buy players after the league season had begun, even though the European window went on until the end of August.

And it meant that players could still leave, with clubs unable to replace them.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the shortened window meant that United vice chairman Ed Woodward was even more determined to hold onto Martial.

There was interest, with the player wanting to go. But United could not sign a replacement, which meant no outgoing deal could be done.
