Posted by Raul Sanllehi has moved to explain the reasoning behind Arsenal’s decision to withdraw the club’s contract offer for Aaron Ramsey.
The Wales international had looked set to sign a new deal at the Emirates, only for the offer of a new four-year contract to be withdrawn by the Emirates hierarchy.
The decision means that Ramsey, last season’s player of the year, will be able to leave north London on a free transfer at the end of the season.
Financially, it means that the Gunners are now facing up to the prospect of losing a £50 million asset for nothing, but head of football Sanllehi insists that the decision has been well thought through.
