Floyd Mayweather has sensationally announced he will fight kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa on New Year's Eve in Japan.
The 41-year-old boxer, unbeaten in all 50 of his career fights, has long been mooted with a move to mixed martial arts to fight Conor McGregor or Khabib Nurmagomedov.
But he has now revealed that he has signed with Japanese mixed martial arts promotions company RIZIN Fighting Federation, although it is not yet known what rules will be in place when he fights 20-year-old Nasukawa in Saitama.
The finances of the deal were not disclosed at Monday's news conference, although any deal to lure Mayweather back is expected to be worth eight figures. Speaking at a news conference in Tokyo on Monday, there was no mention of UFC's two biggest names.
Instead, Mayweather explained that the decision to fight in Japan was about expanding his global profile.

Mayweather, who is expected to start training for the fight in the United States on Tuesday, added that the terms of the fight would be decided in the coming weeks.
Nasukawa competes in RIZIN championships in both MMA and pure kickboxing.
He has won all four of his MMA fights and has 27 wins out of 27 in kickboxing, 21 coming by knock-out. He has never fought as a boxer.
