Manchester City funnelled money through Sheik Mansour's Arab football club to secretly pay Roberto Mancini over double his contracted wage, a new report alleges.
In the final part of a four-day investigation into the club by Football Leaks whistleblowers, a report in German publication Der Spiegel details the allegations.
It is claimed that Mancini - now coach of the Italian national team - signed two contracts in December 2009, one with Manchester City and the other to become a 'special adviser to the Al-Jazira Sports and Cultural Club in the Arabian Gulf League'.
The Football Leaks team claim that the second contract was 'seemingly just a pretext', with Mancini picking up a base salary of £1.45m from Manchester City and an additional £1.75m from Al-Jazira to take his yearly earnings to a huge £3.2m.
Secret emails allegedly retrieved and published by Der Spiegel appear to reveal City's secret plan, with a club executive writing to his colleagues in 2011:
If the allegations are correct, City will then have been able to officially pay Mancini a salary of £1.45m on their books, while secretly giving him a further £1.75m courtesy of his role as a 'special adviser'.
When questioned by the European Investigative Collaborations (EIC) network of journalists, it is reported that neither Al Jazira nor Mancini would respond, while City gave the same statement they have throughout the week.
If they conclude that the emails have been obtained illegally, City — who were sanctioned in 2014 for a breach of FFP rules — could face no further action.
City also reiterated earlier this week that they 'will not be providing any comment on out of context materials purportedly hacked or stolen from City Football Group and Man City personnel and associated people'.

"We have some payments that require to be made by Al-Jazira. 'We will need to send monies to ADUG [City's holding company Abu Dhabi United Group] and ADUG will then pass on to Al-Jazira with payment instruction."

When questioned by the European Investigative Collaborations (EIC) network of journalists, it is reported that neither Al Jazira nor Mancini would respond, while City gave the same statement they have throughout the week.
A spokesperson for the club said: "The attempt to damage the Club's reputation is organised and clear."The revelations could lead to sanctions from UEFA and the Premier League. Neither would comment when approached this week and there is concern about the method by which the documents were obtained.
Der Spiegel's four-part investigation into Manchester City has made waves across the globe this week, with a series of allegations made against the Premier League champions.

It began on Monday with allegedly hacked documents which claimed owner Sheik Mansour paid large chunks of sponsor deals himself so the club could avoid significant Financial Fair Play penalties.
In one agreement with Etihad Airways, it is claimed a staggering £59.5million of the £67.5m was essentially financed by Mansour.
Day two of the investigation divulged details on an alleged secret project called 'Longbow', created to shift the cost of player image rights to a third-party.
Football clubs are obliged to pay their athletes for the right to use their image, be it in posters in the club shop or advertising for new shirts, but it is alleged that Manchester City farmed out the rights in a bid to save spending costs.
It is claimed that a marketing company called 'Fordham Sports Management', allegedly steered by Jonathan Rowland and his father David, bought the image rights, but were secretly fed £11million a year by Man City's owner Sheik Mansour.

It has been reported, therefore, that the deal was in fact a 'closed payment loop', in which Mansour's holding company Abu Dhabi United Group (ADUG) transferred money to the Rowlands for the purchase of the image rights of their players, which then allowed Manchester City to hide the expenditure.
When Sportsmail called Blackfish Capital, the Rowlands' private investment firm, a request for comment was declined. There is no indication that 'Project Longbow' is illegal.
Wednesday's report, the third of four parts, focused on Pep Guardiola and allegations that the manager secretly signed his first contract with the club four months before the official deal was announced.
It is claimed that Guardiola had already secured a deal with City just two months into his final season with Bayern Munich, signing a contract on October 10, 2015.
The documents, obtained by Der Spiegel, say the Spaniard was guaranteed a payment of £13.5million in his first season with City, and £16.75m in the second.
