However, Spanish paper El Partidazo de COPE says his pursuit is now over, convinced Real fans aren't excited by the prospect of Neymar's arrival and also the feedback he is receiving from intermediaries.
Florentino has been told Neymar would prefer to return to Barcelona and he won't consider risking humiliation for Real by giving him the chance to turn them down.
Instead, Real are now expected to throw everything at signing Neymar's PSG teammate Kylian Mbappe next summer.
