Posted by Mesut Ozil has reportedly suffered a knee issue and so will miss Arsenal’s match against Liverpool on Saturday.
The Gunners’ team bus arrived Liverpool on Friday evening, with every member bar one disembarking as expected.
Ozil was the sole notable exception – not seen or pictured by photographers who witnessed the arrival – and it was later revealed by BBC’s David Ornstein that this was due to pain in his knee.
It is understood that the German midfielder encountered the problem while training on Friday and was then withdrawn from the side.
Under manager Unai Emery, Ozil has struggled for consistent game time, playing just 20 minutes between mid-November and late December.
He was substituted at half time during Arsenal’s disappointing 1-1 draw at Brighton on Boxing Day.
Reports have suggested that the 30-year-old could leave the club on a temporary basis when the transfer window opens next month, but Emery insists he is not planning to lose him.
