Posted by Nigeria’s sole campaigner in the CAF Champions League, Lobi Stars, have been handed a seemingly tough draw in the group stage of the competition.
At the draw ceremony conducted on Friday, the Nigeria’s flag bearer housed in Group A were pitched against the 2016 and 2017 champions, Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa, and Wydad Casablanca of Morocco.
The Markurdi-based team will also be facing ASEC Mimosas of Ivory Coast.
Meanwhile, African Champions League holders Esperance of Tunisia will face Horoya of Guinea, Orlando Pirates of South Africa and FC Platinum of Zimbabwe in the Group B of the 2018/2019 campaign.
Friday's draw split the qualifiers into four groups with each club facing their three rivals home and away.
The group winners and runners-up will qualify for quarter-finals with the first group matches scheduled for 11/12 January 2019.
Also Enugu Rangers have been drawn to face Bantu FC in the CAF Confederation Cup play-off.
Rangers are among 15 teams who drop into the Confederation Cup from the African Champions League, the premier African club competition.
Tunisian sides CS Sfaxien and Etoile du Sahel and holders Raja Casablanca of Morocco are three other clubs in the play-offs with outstanding pedigrees.
Kotoko visit Cameroonian club and experienced African campaigners Coton Sport while Chiefs travel to Zambian outfit Zesco United.
