Following the 22-year-old invitation for the Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya, the former Granada man is aware that he will fall under particular scrutiny and hopes he gets back in contention for a regular place in Gernot Rohr’s team.
“I’m glad to be back and it’s good to see my friends as well representing Nigeria,” said Success during Thursday’s media parley.
“I’ve been outside the Nigerian team for two years. For me, I don’t think it’s my performance that influenced the coach’s decision because I know we have a couple of players in Europe that are doing well, even better than me and they haven’t gotten called up.
“For me, I just think two years back, there’s been mistake that were made and those mistakes have been corrected and I’ve been fitter than before. So, I’m just here to do what I need to do.”Nigeria will face Libya on October 13 at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo before squaring up again three days later, in a 2019 Nations Cup qualifier encounter that could determine the fate of both teams.
Nigeria sits third on the table on three points after losing their opening encounter 2-0 to South Africa while Libya sits top on the table after defeating Seychelles 5-1 in their opening game before holding South Africa 0-0 in their second group fixture.
