Arsenal look unstoppable of late, winning 11 in a row, and they head to Selhurst Park fully confident they can make it 12 on the spin.
Crystal Palace vs Arsenal
English Premier League
Date: Sunday, 28th October 2018
Kick-off at 14:30 - Nigerian Time
Venue: Selhurst Park (London).
Crystal Palace blew a big opportunity to get back to winning ways themselves last time out, losing 2-0 at Everton having missed a penalty at 0-0 before conceding two late goals.  Roy Hodgson’s side have lacked goals – scoring once in their last four games – which is a problem Arsenal simply have not had.

Unai Emery’s side are flowing well, building up momentum with this string of eye-catching wins, and struggling Palace do not look the team to stop them.

Furthermore, Palace’s record in this fixture is dreadful – just four wins in 43 previous attempts. The way Arsenal stormed into a 4-0 leas when these teams last met – albeit under Arsene Wenger and not Unai Emery – should be enough cause for concern for Palace.

TEAM NEWS:

Crystal Palace's Connor Wickham returned from the bench last time for his first appearance of the season, but Scott Dann and Christian Benteke remain sidelined. Joel Ward is out with an unspecified muscular injury, but Alexander Sorloth and Max Meyer are expected to recover from illness – though both have tended to feature from the bench this season.

Arsenal's Petr Cech is said to be closing in on a return, but Bernd Leno is likely to continue in goal to face Crystal Palace. Laurent Koscielny and Kostas Mavropanos also remain sidelined but Arsenal’s injury worries are easing – Carl Jenkinson was back on the bench in mid-week, Sokratis Papastathopoulos started and Ainsley Maitland-Niles and Sead Kolasinac are also close to a return. Nacho Monreal is also expected to be fit, after missing the last two matches with a small hamstring injury.

TEAM FORM:

Crystal Palace’s only league win in their last five games was in the Carabao Cup, away to Championship West Brom – Andros Townsend scored twice and Patrick van Aanholt grabbed the other. In the league, the Eagles have lost their last three – Van Aanholt’s goal against Bournemouth was not enough in a 2-1 defeat to Bournemouth, before a 1-0 loss at home to Wolves and last weekend’s late 2-0 defeat at Everton – after Luka Milivojevic had missed a penalty at 0-0.

Arsenal have now won 11 games in a row, a run they extended with last weekend’s league win at home to Leicester City and the mid-week trip to Sporting. They fell behind to a Hector Bellerin goal at home to Leicester but Mesut Ozil equalised and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored twice in the second-half to seal victory – just as he had done in the 5-1 win at Fulham that preceded it. Last time out, against Sporting, Danny Welbeck popped up with the only goal of the game to give Arsenal a 1-0 win and to maintain that winning streak.

POSSIBLE LINEUPS:

Crystal Palace (4-4-2): Wayne Hennessey; Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Joel Tomkins, Mamadou Sakho, Patrick van Aanholt; James McArthur, Luka Milivojevic, Cheikh Kouyate, Jeffrey Schlupp; Andros Townsend, Wilfried Zaha.

Arsenal (4-3-3): Bernd Leno; Hector Bellerin, Sokratis, Shkodran Mustafi, Nacho Monreal; Lucas Torreira, Granit Xhaka; Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Mesut Ozil, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang; Alexandre Lacazette

KEY STATS:

Crystal Palace have only won four of their 43 previous matches against Arsenal, with the Gunners winning 28 and drawing 11 of the other 39.

One of those wins came when they met at Selhurst Park in April last year, but last season Arsenal won home and away.

At Selhurst Park, Alexis Sanchez scored twice in a 3-2 Arsenal win, after Andros Townsend had earlier cancelled out Shkodran Mustafi’s opener – James Tomkins scoring late to make it 3-2.

In the reverse fixture, meanwhile, Arsenal were 4-0 up after 22 minutes as Nancho Monreal, Alex Iwobi, Laurent Koscielny and Alexandre Lacazette all scored.

Luka Milivojevic scored Palace’s consolation goal late on in a 4-1 Arsenal win.

PREDICTION:

Crystal Palace 0-3Arsenal — For now, Palace lack goals and Arsenal will expect to not only win at Selhurst Park today but do so relatively comfortably too.
