The United team bus arrived late for the side's Champions League clash with Juventus, just under an hour before kick off, which subsequently delayed the start of the contest.
United have since received word that they face another UEFA saction for being late, following their fine for committing the same offence earlier this month before their home match against Spanish side Valencia.
It has emerged that following Jose Mourinho's decision to walk the remainder of the journey to Old Trafford on Tuesday, the Portuguese had urged his players to do the same, in order to ensure that the club avoid any further action from UEFA. But the manager's requests fell on deaf ears.
This prompted many sources to question the player's support for their boss, as Mourinho was left to traipse to the ground with only members of security staff for company.
However, according to 'Sportsmail' the decision to remain on the bus was taken by club officials, who declined Mourinho's request for everyone to walk to the ground, on the basis that they only had enough security to escort him.
In spite of United's revision of their pre-match preparations before the Juventus game; they moved their base from the Lowry hotel to the Hilton Garden Inn, the team still arrived after their visitors on Tuesday night, due to crippling traffic problems.
Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham has called for an investigation to be made on the situation, while club officials at United are also reviewing plans and trying to make more alternative arrangements.
