The English Football Association has charged Derby County midfielder Bradley Johnson with violent conduct for an alleged bite on Joe Allen, and sanctioned a four-game ban.
The pair clashed after Stoke's Oghenekaro Etebo was sent off in his side's 2-1 victory on Wednesday, with TV replays suggesting Johnson sank his teeth into Allen's shoulder.
Making an announcement on Friday evening, the English footballing body confirmed Johnson would be receiving a ban as a result of his actions.
Johnson is also set to serve an additional game away from football, due to accumulating five cautions.
The incident sparked outrage on social media, but Allen himself has since played down claims that he was bitten by the Rams midfielder.

Post Summary
The pair clashed after Stoke's Oghenekaro Etebo was sent off in his side's 2-1 victory on Wednesday, with TV replays suggesting Johnson sank his teeth into Allen's shoulder.
Making an announcement on Friday evening, the English footballing body confirmed Johnson would be receiving a ban as a result of his actions.
Johnson is also set to serve an additional game away from football, due to accumulating five cautions.
An FA statement said: "Bradley Johnson has been suspended for four games after he was found to have committed an act of violent conduct for which the standard punishment would be clearly insufficient. Both players were booked for their role in the incident, which was sparked by Peter Etebo's red card challenge on Richard Keogh.
"The Derby County player was involved in an incident with Stoke City's Joe Allen during Wednesday's game [28 November 2018] which was not seen by the match officials but caught on camera.
"Johnson denied the charge of violent conduct with an Independent Regulatory Commission then considering The FA's allegation that the three-match sanction should be increased.
"In addition to the suspension for violent conduct, the player will also serve a one-match ban for accumulating five cautions."
The incident sparked outrage on social media, but Allen himself has since played down claims that he was bitten by the Rams midfielder.
“People asked me at half-time what had happened and suggested I’d been bitten - but to clear it all up, that didn’t happen," he said.It seems the English FA disgaree, with Johnson now set to miss the clash with Swansea City, as well as the games with Wigan, Nottingham Forest, Bristol City and Sheffield United.
"He might have caught a bit of my shirt but I think we can lay that one to rest.”
