Arsenal prepare to host Tottenham for the 196th North London Derby at the Emirates Stadium as both teams aim to close the gap to the top of the table.
Arsenal are three points behind their North London rivals Tottenham, and Unai Emery will be hoping a win would put them level on points.
This will be the first time in 22 years a new Arsenal manager will be taking charge of the club for the North London derby, and the Spanish will be bent on preserving his side’s 18-game unbeaten run with at least a result.
Arsenal come into the clash at the back of an impressive win over Vorskla in the Europa League, while last weekend in the English Premier League they defeated Bournemouth 2-1 to remain 5th on the table.
The Tottenham game, however, will be a stern test for the manager and the fourth top-four team Arsenal will face, with the Gunners yet to win against any such sides.
Tottenham Hotspur themselves have won all of their last six games in all competitions.
The last win came during midweek in the UEFA Champions League against Inter, although the confidence-boosting victory came in last weekend when Spurs thrashed Chelsea at Wembley.
Despite the excellent form Spurs have been in, they will well know the difficulty the derby represents.
Among the two North London rivals, it is Tottenham who sit close to Manchester City at the top of the table, five points off the pace.
A win for Spurs would increase the gap with Arsenal to six points, although a defeat would mean Arsenal sit above their rivals, equal on points but higher on goal difference.
TEAMS NEWS:
Arsenal - Alexandre Lacazette is expected to return after missing last week’s win at Bournemouth and he could be joined in the squad by fit-again compatriot Laurent Koscielny – though a start for the defender seems unlikely. Danny Welbeck (ankle), Nacho Monreal (hamstring) and Kostas Mavropanos (groin) are all ruled out.
Tottenham - Danny Rose and Jan Vertonghen returned for the Champions League win at Inter Milan, and Rose could come into the starting line-up for Sunday’s match. Kieran Trippier is rated unlikely with a groin injury, meaning Serge Aurier to continue at right-back, while Mousa Dembele (ankle), Davinson Sanchez and Victor Wanyama (both hamstring) are definitely out.
TEAM FORM:
Arsenal - After a run of four draws in five games in all competitions, Arsenal have got back to winning ways since the international break. Jefferson Lerma’s spectacular own goal and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s second-half strike earned a 2-1 win away to Bournemouth in the last EPL game. In mid-week, meanwhile, Emile Smith-Rowe, Aaron Ramsey and Joe Willock all scored in the first half in a 3-0 Europa League win at Vorskla.
Tottenham have stretched their winning run to six games with two impressive results since the international break. First, they beat Chelsea 3-1 at Wembley to end the Blues’ unbeaten start to the season – Dele Alli, Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min all scoring in a dominant display. Then, in mid-week, Spurs left it late to beat Inter Milan through Christian Eriksen’s goal to keep their Champions League hopes alive.
POSSIBLE LINEUPS:
Arsenal (4-2-3-1): Bernd Leno; Hector Bellerin, Shkodran Mustafi, Rob Holding, Sead Kolasinac; Granit Xhaka, Lucas Torreira; Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Mesut Ozil, Henrikh Mkhitaryan; Alexandre Lacazette.
Tottenham Hotspur (4-2-3-1): Hugo Lloris; Serge Aurier, Toby Alderweireld, Jan Vertonghen, Danny Rose; Eric Dier, Moussa Sissoko; Lucas Moura, Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli; Harry Kane.
KEY STATS:
Arsenal 2- Spurs — Arsenal have a dominant record in home fixtures in the North London derby. After getting back to winning ways, the Gunners can end Spurs’ winning streak.

- Spurs do have a better record at home and won last season’s reverse fixture 1-0 at Wembley courtesy of a Harry Kane goal.
- In-form Tottenham could put daylight between themselves and North London rivals Arsenal with a win at the Emirates today, but they are without an away win in this fixture in the English Premier League since 2010 - and have only won two of their EPL matches away to Arsenal since the English top flight was reformed in 1992.
