A town official said no.And evidently that’s how things work in France.
The name was inspired by Antoine Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe, who helped France to the championship over Croatia this summer.
According to the French publication La Montagne, Brive’s registrar invoked a French law that allows authorities to challenge a newborn’s name if it is deemed to not be in the best interest of the child.
La Montagne says:
So now it’s up to the prosecutor and judge. If they agree with the registrar’s assessment, little Griezmann Mbappe will be in search of a new name.

"Believing, according to the Civil Code, that “these names appear to him to be contrary to the interest of the child or to infringe on the right of third parties to have their family name protected”, the City Agent referred the matter to the public prosecutor. "The law that allows the registrar to challenge the name reads as follows, per La Montagne:
"In France, parents have the freedom to choose the first name of their child. Until 1993, according to Article 57 of the Civil Code, the registrar could at leisure accept or refuse the chosen name.According to the report, if the prosecutor agrees with the assessment that the name is inappropriate, a judge can order the couple to rename the child or rename the child his or herself.
"However, the parents’ freedom knows some limits, also fixed by the Civil Code.
"The first name may be refused at the time of the declaration of birth if: it harms the interest of the child (first name sounds ridiculous, pejorative or coarse, alone or associated with other names or surname); it is too complex (composed of more than three first names for example); it refers to a personality discredited by history; it contains foreign characters (foreign names are accepted if it is possible to transcribe them in Latin alphabet). "
